Colton Depot Kit – N
$59.95
Colton, California was founded in 1875 and was named after David Douty Colton, a former Brigadier General of the California State Militia. The Southern Pacific was the first railroad to arrive in the area followed soon after by the Santa Fe and the Union Pacific in the early 1900’s. The Santa Fe and Union Pacific established a cooperative agreement by 1905 which included shared passage through Cajon Pass and this jointly owned depot in Colton. Though neither railroad’s flagship passenger trains stopped here, no expense was spared in constructing this attractive mission style depot in 1927. This depot was subsequently retired in 1979 and remained vacant until it was converted to office space in the late 1990’s. The station survives to this day (though partially obscured by a modern signal mast & cabinets) alongside an active BNSF mainline. This highly detailed kit features laser-cut components, photo-etched windows & grates, platform benches, four(4) different roofing styles, an interior support system and illustrated step-by-step instructions. The completed model measures approximately 7”L x 2”W x 1½”H.
