Concord Coach – Etched Brass Kit (N)
‘Making-A-Scene Etched’ kits are created from finely etched brass components that have been designed for ease of assembly which is assisted by full-color illustrated instructions (see sample page). Assembly usually takes less than an hour and no soldering or special tools are required… just snip, fold and glue ! This Concord Coach kit is based on a design by the Abbot-Downing Company of Concord, New Hampshire who perfected the “Concord Coach” design in the late 1820’s. One of their largest customers was Wells Fargo & Company who still use this coach as their trademark (see photo). This coach was used to carry passengers, mail and other valuable cargo until its function was absorbed by the railroads in the latter part of the 1800’s. One of its unique features is it suspension system created from band of layered leather straps known as “thoroughbraces” which are featured in this kit.
