KCT Tower #2 Kit – N
$59.95
The Kansas City Terminal (KCT) Railway was formed in 1906 to coordinate the joint operations of the twelve railroads that served Kansas City. These same railroads joined together to build the current Kansas City Union Station which opened in 1914 to replace the smaller 1878 Union Depot built in the flood prone ‘Bottoms’ area. The KCT still owns and operates 85 miles of track in Kansas and Missouri that serve the BNSF, Norfolk Southern, Union Pacific and CP/KCS Railroads as well as several short lines and Amtrak. KCT Tower #2 was originally built in 1910 as one of nine interlocking towers that controlled train movements in this second busiest railroad hub in the United States (behind Chicago). This kit is based on this tower before it was modified with two brick additions to accommodate new signaling and pneumatic switch equipment in the 1930’s. It was later replaced with a modern brick structure in the 1940’s that still stands today. This highly detailed kit features laser-cut micro-plywood components, self-stick trim & roofing pieces, an interior support system, illustrated step-by-step instructions and an open upper level floor plan to allow for interior detailing. The completed model measures approximately 2¾”L x 1¼”W x 2¼”H.
