Sheffield Farms Creamery Kit – HO

$159.95

The Sheffield Farms Creamery kit was inspired by the creamery that still stands in Bloomville, New York along the abandoned Kingston Branch of the New York Central (originally the Ulster & Delaware Railway).  When this creamery opened in 1892, it was the first to use the milk pasteurization process in the United States.  As with many creamery operations, gravity played a major part in the movement of liquids through the various stages of this process.  Raw milk was brought from local dairy farms to the Delivery Ramp on the upper level of this structure and processed milk was shipped from the Loading Dock on the lowest level.  Until it closed in 1960, milk products were shipped from this creamery to markets in the metropolitan New York area by train and in the latter years via truck.  The Kingston Branch continued operations through the Penn Central era and was eventually abandoned by Conrail in 1978.  This kit features detailed step-by-step instructions with a full compliment of HO scale diagrams & progress photos, micro-plywood & plastic stone work components and resin & metal castings. The completed model as shown measures approximately 11½”L x 7½”W x 7½”H.  The Milk Cans – HO shown on this display model are available on this website (#20042 & #20043).
